A site affected by illness, surgery or injury will very quickly cease to be used by the animal if it finds movement painful or too difficult. Muscle wastage begins within 3 days of inactivity.

If your pet is unable or reluctant to weight bear on land, starting hydrotherapy will begin their rehabilitation process much sooner preventing further weakness and starts to rebuild muscle mass and tone.
